The Arborification of Baucis and Philemon
There are three things I like about the story: 1. Once upon a time two strangers came seeking shelter. They knocked on a thousand doors and were turned away a thousand times, until they came to a small, humble cottage. 2. The tenderness with which Ovid lists their offerings: a couch with willow frame and feet, and a sedge-grass mattress upon it; earthenware plates, goblets of beech coated with...

lorraelena replied to your post: Quite pleased with how Season 3 of Castle is shaping up. Well done, latest episode. Bones, please take a look at how they build up the case and actually make us invested in what happens to them, instead of all this angst. I think that’s what’s missing with Bones too. The cases aren’t as compelling or mysterious. Doesn’t make me think as much. I miss CSI. ...

Quite pleased with how Season 3 of Castle is...
I was actually invested in HOW they solved the case (or not) in Castle, and I so did not see the twist right there at the end. Dammit! Reminds me of the Epps and Gravedigger cases - you know, before the cases on Bones began to descend into some kind of a joke for Season 6. I could already guess who the killer was just as soon as they entered the interrogation room.

A Walkman was my first music player too, although I never had that many tapes, just a few. But I loved them. CDs will also be obsolete in no time. Did you make mixtapes too? I remember tuning in to the radio with my fingers on “Play” and “Record” on my old...

gravenrose replied to your link: Tape lovers mix it up, old-spool It’s kind of sad to lose technology like that. I mean, obviously the technology we have now is useful and definitely more sophisticated, but it just makes sad when things that were once so appreciated just disappear. It’s sadder when it’s language. My first music player was an orange Sony Walkman with the foam headphones. I was in...

Tape lovers mix it up, old-spool →
“[P]eople who prefer their music on tape were dealt a blow recently when Sony announced it was to stop production of the humble Walkman; signalling the death knell for the iconic music player. The last batch has already been shipped out, and once they have sold out it means buying one will become a whole lot harder.”

poem #951
Spindrift Ephemera – that’s what they called it. This scattering of shells on the sand Each one bearing a story of the sea, An echo of a voice forgotten by the waves. You remember how it felt To touch water for the very first time? Almost like making love, surely, with a surety Of hands and lips and tongue The push and pull of the tide without a moon. There is something to be said...

The Boyfriend Calls Me Bones Now o_O
BACKSTORY: The Boyfriend enjoys deliberately mis-pronouncing words because he knows I will correct him, or give him a succinct etymological backstory to the word he mispronounced. Now, given my happy fandom, he has decided to add another layer to this game.
THE BOYFRIEND: ...blah blah blah
ME: Boyfriend, that is not the way you say it. You say it like this:
THE BOYFRIEND: *stops in his tracks* *turns to look at me* *gives me an evil grin* Okay, BONES. You're such a dork.
I am not sure whether I should smack him or hug him.

99 Problems But a Cape Ain't One: Conservatives... →
Each of the heroes of “The 99” represents one of those virtues of Allah, such as strength, mercy and wisdom, attributes that are valued by many faiths and cultures. Praised by U.S. President Barack Obama as embodying “the teachings of the tolerance of Islam,” the young heroes also demonstrate these values in their fantastical adventures without any one character praying or...

HEEEEEEEEEEEY. TUMBLR'S PURPLE TODAY!
There is support. And things get better. :) I’m straight but I have lots of gay and lesbian friends, including an uncle and cousins, and I believe that love should not be confined to heterosexual boundaries. Because love is LOVE and should be honored and cherished in whatever way possible.
