Wear Red For Libya →
Currently, in Libya, the men are being ordered to rape the women, soldiers are being forced to kill, funerals are being bombed, innocent bystanders are being murdered, and protesters are being brutally killed. Over 250 are dead in the last 24 hours and it hasn’t stopped there.
Wear red, the color of Libya before Gaddafi’s rule, to help spread awareness

I get it. Same feeling of massive disappointment. Instead of being because there isn’t a magical jolly man who just decided one day that he would give gifts to every child in the world, it’s because you live in a world where people could like Hannah.
*flails* I just don’t know how to even react. Awkward...

LIKES her? LIKES? HUH?
*meep* …yes apparently I know people who like Hannah. Color me surprised.
I mean, it’s cool and all, but… it’s like someone told me Santa Claus doesn’t exist.
That may not be an appropriate metaphor.

poem #409
Wrecked Mid-morning. It was late and the dishes were abandoned wreckages in the still sink waters. Her tears tasted of the ocean. Some things still needed to be done. The next day, seaweed silken curling across her palm....

Because I come from a country where, in practice, the separation of Church and State does not exist, and so-called religious advocates can say something like ”Advocates also assert that the RH Bill empowers women with ownership of their own bodies. This is in line with the post-modern spirit declaring that women have power over their own bodies without the dictation of any religion. How...

Ruby by Rebecca Frederickson Three years dead, and already I can’t remember you. I won’t go back to your last years in institutions, where you slugged a nurse and refused to eat anything but chicken in a mug and soda crackers. Before death, we can boil down to what has been the worst in us and then our grandchildren must be trusted to forget. Ruby, I’ll go way back to the...

How Tech Tools Transformed New York's Sex Trade →
“Of the women I talked to, 61 percent said they’ve used craigslist, mostly for advertising. But even before the crackdown on the site’s adult-services section, sex workers were turning to Facebook: 83 percent have a Facebook page, and I estimate that by the end of 2011, Facebook will be the leading on-line recruitment space.” - from the article

”You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don’t be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.”

Anonymous asked: This is a bit of a vague question, but what advice, concrete or other, would you want to give to writers who are just starting out? If you met some young kid who's struggling with his/her writing, what would you suggest to that kid to do?
