Day 10: Who is your favorite guest actor to appear in an episode of Doctor Who?
Eve Myles as Gwyneth/Gwen Cooper
I think Rose said it best when she said that in 1898, a young servant girl saved the whole world and yet nobody knew about it. There was something about Gwyneth’s character, that mix of innocence and strength that made her the perfect unsung hero that saved everyone from the Gelth that snowy Christmas Eve when the whole world could’ve been taken over by alien ghosts and instead, were spared by her sacrifice.
And of course, it just cracks me up when, in Journey’s End, the Doctor and Rose just stare at Gwen for a while in recognition, and then ask her whether she’s from an old Cardiff family because hey, there are no coincidences in Doctor Who! That was just a hilarious little shout-out to the first season and Rose’s first journey to the past. In a way, it’s one of the little threads that tie the series up neatly in preparation for the Tenth Doctor’s regeneration. :)
