PH Nerdfighters Meet-up
So this is now a thing.
If you’d like to confirm for the event, please follow this link. We can only accomodate the first 50 people for giveaways and stuff, but we’d love to meet you even if you’re not part of the first 50 confirmed attendees.
The Tumblr meetup page for this event is also here so that you know how to get to the place and stuff. It’s at a bookstore, so that’s pretty cool.
You can also follow us on Twitter at @PHnerdfighters or join the official Facebook page to meet fellow Nerdfighters from the Philippines.
Fully Booked was pretty awesome in letting us use the space, so go and thank them as well. You can follow them on Twitter at @_fullybooked and basically shower them in awesome. :D
See you at the event!
Also, our awesome poster was designed by resident Nerdfighter and artist Nica, whose TFiOS fanart work you might be familiar with from one of John’s recent videos. :D

The Philippine government is trying to pass a law that’s trying to control the internet only because one of the senators refused to admit that he fucked up, twice. Basically taking away internet freedom for my country. We helped out when you had your ACTA, PIPA and SOPA problems, now we’re asking you guys to return the favor.
there’s a petition up and we need a shit ton of signatures

Tumblr just put up this site warning people about the dangers of PROTECT-IP Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). Read up, kids. This is important.
Your morning homework: Read this letter from AOL, eBay, Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Mozilla, Twitter, Yahoo!, & Zynga. Then visit Tumblr’s page and take action.
I’m not American and piracy is a way of life in Third World countries with limited access to technology and online services. Nevertheless, as a free-speaking member of the Internet and net neutrality, please do take a look at this and spread the word to people who can and will make a difference in speaking out. Knowledge and information in its truest form needs to be spread. Even for us who can’t contribute our voice to the discussion, the best we can do is spread it.
